Big Faith

Something that came to my mind this week is faith. Faith can be small and be big. For example, I have faith that when I go outside and slide behind the wheel of my car, that when I turn the key, it will start. Then I also have faith that this terrible quarantine will be lifted, eventually. That takes more faith than my car starting (even if it has a bad battery, terrible tires, and does leave me high and dry. Hmmm, maybe that takes a bit more faith than I thought.) But just like these things that we face, our faith in God can be big or small. And at times it does fluctuate when we fall into temptation or go through a season of backsliding.

My prayer for you this week as that you will take hold of your faith and make it as big as ever in this uncomfortable season of staying home. 1 Timothy 6: 11-12 says, “But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses (ESV).” (if you want to read more, read 13-20).

God wants us to turn from our sins, to turn from the things that get in the way of our relationship with God, and turn from the things that just drag us down. Pursue righteousness. Pursue love. Pursue God! Use this mandatory time at home to pursue God and to find a deeper understanding of the love that he has for you.

God bless you all,
