Church family,
Thursday afternoon we learned that a friend of CJ's tested positive for COVID-19, and CJ was potentially exposed to the virus. So on the recommendation of the Cowley County Health Department, CJ received a COVID-19 test. Unfortunately, because of the holiday weekend we will not receive the results until Tuesday. And the order from the health department is that our entire household must stay under self-quarantine until we get the results.
So this means I will not be attending church in person this Sunday, and that breaks my heart. This is done under recommendation from health officials and out of an abundance of caution, but we feel it’s the right thing to do. To be honest, it’s frustrating for me to feel well but have to stay away from my church family on a Sunday morning. However, our staff has talked about this possibility and planned for it. And we’ll have all our bases covered this Sunday morning. If you feel uncomfortable attending church in person, you can do what my family and I will do - participate in the service through our online streaming on Facebook Live.
In light of these events and considering the governor’s new executive order, I would ask that everyone who attends church in person this Sunday wear a facemask that covers your nose and mouth. Many of us already have a mask, and I encourage you to bring your own. However, if you do not have a mask, we will have disposable masks for you to wear. No one is going to force a mask on your face or prevent you from coming in the building. But I ask that in the interest of our public health and in our God-given call to love each other, all of us who are physically and medically able should wear a mask.
It's hard to express how frustrated I am with this virus and the inconveniences and limitations it has brought upon us, and staying home this weekend is going to drive me crazy. However, I'm thankful that we largely haven't had any health scares and that God has protected our people. I want to do everything in my power to keep it that way. Thanks for understanding.
