The Might Power Behind the Storm

Pastoral Staff

Lately, we have had a lot of storms. Not just storms at night but like early morning until like 10 or 11. I have spent my summer nannying for two small children and while I read books I like to look out the window and watch the storm brewing. Every time that this happens, which has been a lot this past week, I just can’t help but be amazed at how powerful our God truly is to control the Earth and nature in this way.

One storm was hardly any rain but loads and loads of thunder and lightning and then the next day it was high winds and downpouring rain. Our God is a powerful God who can and will control everything down to the smallest little ant up to a high-speed thunderstorm and it's just amazing to watch God work. If God can control a huge thunderstorm, raging wind, and rain, why can’t we trust him to take control of our stressors, issues, and our whole lives?

God is ever so powerful that he can control the wind and waves, he is all-powerful, and yet he chooses to love you and me. He chose to send his one and only son down to save us. He loves you! He cares about you! All he wants is for you to trust him, love him, share his love, and worship him alone! Our all-powerful father controls everything and nothing is impossible with him according to Matthew 19:26. It states, “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Then again in Luke 1:37, it says, “For nothing will be impossible without God.” Our God can literally make the earth shake and the volcanoes explode and he not only created this amazing earth full of his wonderful art, He created you and me, his masterpiece. His creation is very important to him, but our lives are his top priority. God wants to see you succeed, he wants you to live a good life. But none of this is possible without trusting our Father to take care of us, whether it’s in your school life, marriage life, financial life, anything! God has got you, and do NOT forget it! This week I encourage you to pray a prayer of trust and surrender something over to God that you have kept too tight of a hold on. Just let the Lord shape your life and trust!
